The government God gave them:
Tribal, Clan, and Family Rulers for typical civil mattersm. Priesthood of Levites for typical religious matters. Prophets for times of religious crisis. Judges for times of civil crisis
God anticipated that the people would want a king to rule over them, and provided direction for how that king would be selected and how he would rule [Det. 17:14-20])
The foolish demand for a king [1 Samuel 8])
