-To hear the word of God, taught in faith and according to the doctrines of God (Romans 10:17)
-To believe that word, in faith that is both expressed and acted upon (John 20:30-31)
-To repent from your past sins, not just feeling sorry for them, but also purging them from life and turning away from those sins (Acts 17:30)
-To confess Jesus and the Christ, the son of God (Romans 10:10)
-To be baptized for the remission of sin (Mark 16:16, Acts 2:38, Galatians 3:27)
-To then live faithfully, even if it should mean your death for faith (Revelation 2:10)
That is what made a person a Christian in the New Testament and that is what still makes one a Christian today.
